Weddings are in store at Afflecks

Mancunian icon Afflecks is proud to announce that it will be able to host wedding ceremonies inside the world-famous shopping emporium. The matrimonial licence comes in time to celebrate Manchester Pride Festival, where this year’s theme is Queerly Beloved to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of marriage equality in the UK.

Any couple who love Afflecks and what it stands for will soon be able to say “I do” amongst their favourite vinyl and vintage finds or in front of some of the venue’s most iconic spots. The wedding licence will allow Afflecks to perform small, intimate and inclusive ceremonies for any couple who want to have a truly unique wedding right in the heart of one of the city’s cultural institutions.

Afflecks intends to welcome a whole rainbow of love in all its glorious forms and will initially be making five spaces available for weddings.

Super romantic, small ceremonies with up to 30 guests will be the order of the day and all the spaces can be dressed and adapted for a perfectly unique and alternative place to declare true love. Whether you’re a Japanese culture fan set on getting hitched in the Animaid Cafe; a pair of Manchester music lovers who want to to commit to each other in front of the iconic poster wall; spiritual sweethearts with a vision of vows amongst incense and spell books; a flamboyant pair who fancy creating an ice-cream inspired wedding at Ginger’s Comfort Emporium or a couple of long-term lovers with special memories of hanging in the Afflecks cafe, there’s something to suit each and every tribe within Afflecks’ special community.

The whole Afflecks family are on hand to help couples create the perfect and completely independent day as the emporium is the perfect treasure trove to find alternative wedding essentials all under one roof. Lovers can find the ultimate vintage wedding look at Afflecks' many pre-loved fashion traders including Milner & Son, American Graffiti and Beg Steal and Borrow; biodegradable confetti and flowers from Jamie's Jungle; and fresh and alternative jewellery ideas from Abacus and Sour Cherry. There's even an opportunity for wedding tattoos at The Studio and a pizza reception from Crazy Pedro's downstairs.

A one-stop independent and alternative wedding day department store awaits for the most spectacular, individual and memorable weddings.

AJ Martyn, General Manager at Afflecks said:

“Afflecks has always been a place that embodies love in all its forms, creative freedom and equality - as well as a welcoming, safe space for all.  The LGBTQ+ community has forever been at the heart of our emporium and we're excited to celebrate this year's Manchester Pride theme and 10 years of marriage equality by opening our doors to ALL couples who may be looking for an inclusive, creative, and unique space in which to say 'I Do’. We've always believed that love is love and we can't wait to welcome couples to our independent emporium and help them create an alternative day of their dreams at Afflecks.''

Wedding bookings and enquiries can be made through the Afflecks website and by arrangement with Manchester registry office.
Weddings at Afflecks will commence Summer 2024.
