Desert Island Dumplings is the neighbourhood fusion dumpling house that you ought to know about. These dumpling deviants have spent the past three years popping up here there and everywhere, across Liverpool & Manchester. From residencies at Liverpools cult favourites; Kazimier Gardens & Cafe Tabac, to Manchesters prestigious Ancoats General Stores. 

The team here are cooking up some of the most exciting, tasty and unusual hand rolled dumplings you’ll ever experience. With core favourites like, salt & pepper chikn, shawarma kebab, all-day breako, and of course, the OG cheezburger dumpling, having a permanent place on their eclectic menu. You can also expect monthly specials, like the current smokey cheez pizza, caramelised onion sausage roll, and cookie dough dumplings! 

Founder Lucy, came up with the concept in 2020 after a conversation with her housemate about the lack of exciting veggie options in the then dumplings scene.

“It’s always mushroom & chive, or tofu & veg or just veg… we wanted something different, something that didn’t compromise on taste & flavour. I realised then, that I wanted a cheezburger dumpling.” 

Starting the business in her overdraft, success wasn’t always easy but the food spoke for itself. After getting her little sister to create the iconic logo and an Instagram page, word spread and the fan base grew. Now after making waves in the street food scene, A Golden Chopstick nomination for Best Dumpling under their belts, a nod from the British Street Food Awards for Best Street Food, Desert Island Dumplings has landed at Afflecks. Expect fried and steamed dumplings, hash-browns, krispy kale, udon noodles, chips galore AND do not forget about their enticing combo boxes, inspired by the teams favourite songs.
