This time of year can be tough for small businesses, especially with the big Christmas markets taking over the city. That is why our mission this season is to champion our traders and encourage everyone to give gifts that feel mindful and meaningful. Shopping local really does make a difference!

Kicking Off Alt Christmas

We recently invited local press and content creators into the building to help launch our 'Alt Christmas' mission. It was such a lovely day and the perfect chance to show off the incredible independent businesses across all our floors. Guests wandered, shopped, chatted with traders, and got a real feel for the creativity happening in the building.

One of the favourite moments of the day was the chance to make custom pieces with one of our traders, Labo Made. People loved seeing how the items were made and getting hands-on with their own designs. It was a fun way to highlight the talent and care behind our traders’ work!

Guests then took a break at Third Floor Rising for lunch and enjoyed some chocolates from Jeanne's Cheeky Chocolates. 

Our very own Alt Santa even made an appearance! He gave a speech to remind everyone to shop local when they can, delivered with a lot of heart (and a lot of attitude, of course!).

Every purchase from a small business supports a real person and helps keep Manchester’s independent spirit strong. It is these small businesses that bring colour and creativity to the city all year round, not just at Christmas.
