Afflecks are celebrating Manchester Pride with a BUMPER weekend of activities
A Pride takeover across all five floors of Afflecks will create the perfect place for Pride prep and pre-parade party vibes over the weekend. Pride revellers are encouraged to embrace every inch of their fabulousness and explore all floors of Afflecks - getting Pride ready and in the spirit along the way, and even getting snapped with Afflecks’ own Pride Paparazzi on the way out!
Guests should start on the third floor, where the Afflecks Pride & Polished pop up makeup station will be open, providing guests with plenty of fierce looks ahead of the celebrations. Visitors will also have the chance to check out and capture their new looks with a £1 huge mirror selfie pop-up and plenty of American Graffiti Pride themed props on the second floor. The first floor will be hosting a ‘Shake your Sequins’ session with Afflecks’ resident DJ’s bringing fabulous tunes to the emporium. On the way out, the ‘Pride Pap’ will be on hand in the Afflecks arcade on Oldham Street to capture all the looks created. These activities will take place from 10AM - 12PM on Saturday and 11AM - 1PM on Sunday.
To show you where to go and pay homage to Manchester Pride’s 2024 theme, Buzzin’ To Be Queer, a Rainbow Bee Trail will also take place across all three of Afflecks’ floors from Saturday 24th - Monday 26th August. Bee shaped floor decals will be scattered throughout the building for people to follow and find the activities.
Bank holiday Monday at Afflecks (26th August) will be all about much needed chill out after two days of partying. One-stop pet shop Noff and Nana, will be hosting a ‘Hair of the Dog’ selfie station on the third floor with fresh water and doggie treats for all the good girls and boys. For the chance to win a £20 Afflecks voucher, visitors should tag @afflecks_manchester and @noff.and.nana in all of their adorable puppy selfies. Ginger’s Comfort Emporium will also be bringing their artisan ice cream to a special pop up outside Afflecks on Short Street, providing sweet treats all day.
Afflecks has been given a Pride-themed makeover with a revamped flower display at the Church street entrance and iconic rainbow umbrellas in the Oldham street arcade. Plenty of Afflecks’ traders will also be getting involved with the Pride fun, decorating their spaces and offering lots of Pride themed goodies, including:
- Gay Pride Shop - The UK’s largest LGBTQ+ store
- American Graffiti - One of Afflecks’ longest reigning trader sells a huge collection of vintage, retro, quirky fancy dress

AJ Martyn, General Manager at Afflecks, said:
“Pride is always a calendar highlight for Afflecks - and this year is no exception. We’ve pulled out all of the stops and can’t wait to celebrate with our vibrant LGBTQ+ community during this important weekend in our glorious city. The theme ‘Buzzin’ to be Queer’ truly captures the essence of what we stand for, celebrating both Manchester’s incredible spirit and our diverse tribe. And what better way to celebrate than with a huge three day party full of music, pop ups and LOADS more. Pride weekend won’t be complete without a visit to Afflecks - see you there!”
