Things to Do This Half Term at Afflecks

If you’re stuck for things to do this half term, Afflecks is a solid place to start. Right in the middle of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, the building is full of independent shops, fun little experiences, and loads of random things you’ll only find here. You can easily spend a couple of hours just wandering around, whether you’re with friends, family, or just mooching on your own.

Play Arcade Games on Every Floor

One of the best parts of exploring Afflecks is finding the arcade machines across the building. They’re on every floor, so you’ll keep spotting them as you go. It’s perfect if you want a break from browsing, need to settle a score with your friends, or just fancy playing something for the nostalgia. It makes exploring feel way more fun, and it’s very easy to lose track of time on them.

Take Photos in Our Photo Booths

There are photo booths on the 1st and 2nd floors, and they’re always worth it. Grab your friends, pile in, and take a strip of photos to remember the day. It’s chaotic in the best way, and you leave with something you’ll probably end up keeping forever, or at least sticking on your mirror.

Use the Selfie Mirror

If you’ve just bought something new or you’re feeling your outfit, the selfie mirror on the 2nd floor is the perfect place to document it. It’s become a bit of a go to spot while people explore the building, and it’s all part of what Afflecks is about. Being yourself, trying things out, and having fun with it.

Stop by Animaid Cafe

Animaid Cafe is one of those places you have to experience at least once. They serve themed drinks in a fully immersive setting, and it’s unlike anywhere else in Manchester. Whether you go in knowing exactly what it is or just stumble across it, it’s always a fun surprise and a great place to stop for a drink.

Recharge at 3rd Floor Rising

If you need a breather, head up to 3rd Floor Rising. It’s a really nice, relaxed cafe space where you can sit down, have a coffee or soft drink, and reset before heading back out. Perfect if you’ve been walking around the Northern Quarter all day and need a moment to recover.

One of the best things about Afflecks is that no two visits are the same. There are dozens of independent traders selling everything from clothing and jewellery to art, gifts, and collectables. You’ll always find something unexpected, and half the fun is just wandering around and seeing what catches your eye.
