March is already shaping up to be a busy one here at Afflecks, with new openings, creative workshops, community events and a few celebrations along the way. Whether you’re popping in for a browse, visiting one of our independents or looking for something new to try, here’s what’s coming up over the next few weeks.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

From the 8th to the 22nd of March, we'll be displaying a gallery celebrating some of the incredible women who help shape our building. The exhibition shares portraits and personal reflections from female traders, highlighting their journeys, inspirations and the experiences that have made them into the women they are today. You can find it in our Oldham Street Arcade!

New Businesses Opening Their Doors

We’re excited to welcome some brilliant new additions to the Afflecks community this month.

Interference Films opens on the 7th of March, bringing their unique creative offering into the building, followed by Becky Kayll Designs, opening on the 9th of March. Both traders are on our third floor!

Later in the month, HappeningInMcr will launch their brand new Microgallery on 16th March, creating another space for local creativity to shine.

Launches, Parties & Special Events

The first weekend of the month kicks off with the Mars Tapes Cafe Launch Weekend (7th–8th March). Pay them a visit that weekend for live music, an art gallery, and in-store DJs.

Elsewhere, SWORN will be hosting a series of events throughout the month, including Crook On The Wall on 8th March, with more pop-ups and happenings scheduled for 15th, 22nd and 29th March.

Workshops & Community Events

Looking to try something new? A few of our traders are hosting hands-on sessions throughout the month.

Nevermore Taxidermy will be running Beginner Taxidermy Classes on the 21st of March and the 29th of March (13:30–16:30) - a unique opportunity to learn traditional techniques in a welcoming workshop environment! You can find tickets here.

For something a little calmer, YB will be hosting Pilates-Barre Classes on 17th, 24th and 31st March (9:15–10:00), perfect for starting your morning with a bit of movement. Grab your tickets here!

Food, Celebrations & Special Days

Crazy Pedro’s El Camion will be hosting Last Orders on the 10th March (1–4pm), while Mother’s Day falls on the 15th March ... a lovely excuse to bring your mum, family or chosen family down for a wander around the building!
